About Drupal
Drupal = Legos for the web.
Wordpress on steroids.
Drupal is a open source web framework for making dynamic websites. Basicly you download it install it on your server then you are up and running. Drupal runs using the MYSQL database and was written in PHP both of which are open source.
The Drupal community is very active and offers tons of documentation and add on modules. THe odds are pretty good that if you have someone has probably created a module for it. If not building modules is pretty advanced but encouraged to better the platform.
I first started using drupal in 2007 to convert Concur.com from a static mess in to a dynamic site. We have had no hiccups and we are constantly expanding it. Drupal has made the site management much easier and allows us to delegate the content side to the appropriate editors.
Erik Hedin.com is running on Drupal 5.7 and has the following modules:
- captcha
- CCK
- fivestar
- imagecache
- imagefield
- relativity
- thickbox
- tinymce
- views
- votingapi
