Christmas in New York City

This year we spent Christmas in New York City with Lara's family. The trip was packed full with two Broadway shows visiting with family and so much amazing food.

Overall Lara and I were able to stay really healthy while away. The Marriott in Time's Square had a amazing gym that we could see from our hallway on the 25th floor. Inside the gym that had kettlebells, free weights, rowers and cardio gear. We both staggered our workouts every morning and had fun overlooking Time's Square from the gym. Right before we left Redmond, my Mom gave us a awesome wand blender which came with a perfect sized cup. We stocked up on smoothie stuff at Whole foods and requested a fridge from the hotel.

On our second day we took the subway with the kids to Organic Avenue. They make some of the best veggie juices in NYC. We stocked up our fridge and were set for a few days.

Just before Christmas we saw the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall. Luca and Skye were in awe of all the dancing and sets that popup out of the floor. What a cool show and amazing venue. On Christmas eve we saw Mary Poppins which was also a great kid friendly show. At the end of the show Merry Poppins flys over super slow on a wire with a spot light on her. Both Skye and Luca could not take their eyes off her and loved it.

New York city is an amazing place. The energy and amount of people can energize you one minute then exhaust you the next. Spending time with John, Cyntia, Timmy, Christine, Sean, Ingvild, Angie, Dave, Makena and Eve was a huge treat.

The trip was so much fun. We are so lucky that our kids have turned out to be such great travelers.

Ready, set, vacation

Summer vacation has begun! The family and I are down in Cannon Beach for the next week or maybe two. So cool to spend time together with no where to go and nothing to do. We are here to play. Luca and Skye are so cute but the constant battle of toy possession is relentless. I think now that Skye can crawl and her direction is always towards Luca there is a new challenge for him.

Lara and I were chuckling that the happiest vacation camper is Diesel the dog. Since we have been here he has been off the leash and doing really well with it. He cruises close to us at the beach and comes when called. Very much the opposite of the last time we were here. Ha and a bonus of sitting on Fuzzy's bed.

So beautiful here, sitting on top of the ocean and hearing the surf is a full recharge for me.

Lara's Birthday, Grandpa Todd and Soccer

Lara had her birthday just about a week after Skye came home. Heather brought over a feast and we enjoyed a quiet morning... Kind of quiet except for Luca tearing through the house with unstoppable excitement.

Grandpa Todd made it up for a quick weekend to meet Skye. We went on some Luca field trips and had a great time.

Luca has started Soccer and loves it. They are so cute all running around at LIL Kickers.

Skye is here!

Skye was born on september 5th 2010 at 10:59 am. She tipped the scales at 6lbs 11ozs and 21 inches long. Overall she is way more mellow than Luca was in his first days. Evergreen hospital is a great facility and has super nice staff. We were only there two days and are now back at home.

Upon coming home Skye gave Luca a blue race car which helped ease her in to our pack. Very funny but it worked. Lara is on the quick road to recovery as Skye feeds and sleeps.

Lara and I were lucky enough to have both our Mom's here during this first week. Lorraine stayed in the hospital with Lara at night and my Mom took Luca during the days. Thank you guys, that was a huge help!

Skye is very cute and loves to be held by everyone. We went yesterday to her first post hospital checkup and she had already gained 6 ounces. Feeding is going well!

Luca starts preschool

Lara found a great preschool close to our house for Luca. He was not very excited to go but had a good time here at orientation day. The best part is our neighbor Jake is in the same class.

Waiting for Skye

Not much to report from here. The days tick on as we wait for Skye. Will she turn head down or will she be breech like Luca? Lara is slowing down and has to time her days depending on the heat factor. Hot days are spent with her feet in a cold tub of water. Luca is as cute as always. His counting and letter recognition is through the roof. So fun to watch him grow.

Seattle seaplane ride

While we were house sitting my sisters house Luca became obsessed with seaplanes. He took inventory of which ones were coming and going and had us pick our favorites. Grandpa Todd gave Luca a seaplane ride for his birthday present. It was a lot of fun. For Luca looking at a seaplane and riding in one are two very different things. He was a little scared at first but after we landed he kept yelling go again. James our pilot had a big smile on his face.

Seeing Seattle from the low plane was awesome. What a beautiful city from the air.

New House and Summer Music

Slowly but surely we are getting settled. Heather the seller of our house left it in great shape. We are super grateful to find such a awesome house in a great location.

All around us are short trails that I have been running and biking on with Diesel. We are on top of a big hill and my legs were fried the first two weeks. I made the mistake of going too hard running on the steep stuff when my body can only handle that one a week or so. The ride to work on my road bike is a snap. Super fun jetting down the hill in my dress shirt. The ride back home is a tough one but is getting easier.

Luca loves the backyard and his new room. We are still trying to transition him in to a big boy bed. He escapes and runs around the house as soon as we leave his room. In the afternoons we have been going to the ball fields to play soccer. So cool to play on such big pristine fields.

Next up are photos on the walls and plants.

Trains in Snowqualmie

Last weekend we were able to take some time off from Ikea runs and moving to go on a family trip to Snowqualmie. Luca had a blast. We sat in the oldest old car on the train made in 1902. Super cool!

Luca turns 3 years old!

Luca is 3 years old! Hard to believe how much he has grown up this year. He talks, argues, tells jokes and can count to ten amongst other crazy cave man tricks. We have reconnected with most of our old friends here and had a fun little birthday party at the Medina playground. Such a difference from his 1st birthday party with no hitting, biting or meltdowns. Every one had a good time. Grandma Susan also got to come with a perfectly timed Seattle visit on her way to Canada.

We are anxiously awaiting out new house to close in Redmond. I will post next with some photos.

Happy Birthday Luca! We love you.
